No.1: Let's begin!

Hello, hello. I'm Quynh Anh and as you've already known I'm a newbie to RMIT SGS and also the Prof.Comm major Semester C 2018. This semester I study Contemporary Approaches to Media and Communication (CA), Making Media (MM) and Foundation to PR (FPR) which presented for 48 credits. After the first week I find it was so excited that I hunger for learning all the things of the three course.

My first time touching the Canon 70D Camera

I study in Mr.Bryan class for CA and he has great sense of humour that my friends and I laughed for whole three hours of the first class. He showed us the short film called "Spider", which has an "eye - sore" ending, if you are curios of what I'm saying, just click the link and enjoy 'till the last second. From the film, I have learned how we can tell a story and how to make a plot twist in the movie. After that, our lecturer asked us to make an "introduction video". After that, on Tuesday, he made us do the "RMIT Symphonies", which captured moments of our university and also include some basic camera filming steps. My team spent a day going around every corner of the university to do this, but in the end we realised that we didn't have to do that complicated because other group did it quite simple. However, we had a lot of memorable moment.

For MM, in the first 3 hours in class, I was impressed by the introduction of the course, I felt curios and excited of what I would continue to learn. Our lecturer, Mr. Erik Young asked us to write what we think about "Communication" on the board, our group just wrote what we usually thought, such as "People, television, social media, Facebook and Youtube". However, when Mr. Erik explained, I realised the exact meaning of communication is the connection between Sender and Receiver, sender sends messages to receiver by "Noise", which could be understood as some form of technology like radio, television, newspapers or video games, and much more. After that, we were introduced to some software we would be responsible for learning for this course: Audacity, Indesign, Photoshop and Website/blogging tool. For the first assignment called "Podcast", Mr. Erik showed us how to do it. Podcasting is digital audio journalism, online radio and Downloadable digital audio files. Next, it could not forget to mention about the podcast process that included:Identifying your audience -> Identify big theme/idea -> Research -> Write an outline -> Write your script -> Select music and sound effects.I could clearly understand the class and hunger for doing the Podcast.

For PR, I studied about the History of Public Relations and recognised the differences between PR and Ads. These are all useful and interesting information for my major and my future.

Thank you for spending time reading my blog this first week!
