No.2.1: Go out and practice

CA: Mr. Bryan introduced us to the "colours in movies" and show how colours can express the whole emotion of the scenes. After that, we was asked to do the "Colour Journey" video. I worked with Minh and Mai, we chose Blue as our main colour, blue also means as sadness, so we built a video based on this feeling.

MM: This week, we continued talking about podcasts, introduction to microphones and audio, then learnt the basic tools of Audacity.

Mr.Erik showed us some examples for the podcast, then repeated about the Podcast Process, which had been mentioned the previous week. For assessment 1, in a team of three, we will make a digital 3-to-7-minute audio podcast, and have approximately two weeks to do this. I have formed my group with Mai and Ky, then we made a Facebook group chat to easily contact each other to discuss about the topic and also divided departments. After discussing about some topics, we end up with a topic "Depression" with the research question is "How can teenagers overcome depression?". Then we asked Mr.Erik to have some advice, he show us what to focus on, such as: family situations or diet, and show us how to find the primary and secondary research.

After that, Mr.Bach from AV Room came to our class and make a tutorial for us to use the Zoom Recorder, that can convert sound waves into electrical signal and can be used in different purposes. Then, Mr.Erik let us have chance to try using the recorder in different environments. like in the room and in bigger and more crowded place, so we could recognise the differences of the sounds and find the best place for recording,

Next, we were introduce to Audacity and practiced with simple tools, for example, import, export, select shift, split, and cut. Mr.Erik also introduced us to the website: freesound.org, which have many free sound we need. This podcast also required the suitable emotional voice for it. I felt a little bit fantastic that I had found some effects which are useful our work.

For the homework, we would agree with the topic again, do some research and develop ideas to write a draft script.
